Managing your horse’s diet can feel overwhelming. I’m here to help.
-
Whether your horse is overweight of underweight, diet is critical in addressing and maintaining proper body condition.
-
Ulcers, frequent diarrhea, and other digestive issues can all be prevented and managed through dietary changes.
-
Laminitis is scary, but it can be managed through very careful approaches to diet.
-
Insulin is directly related to diet, and with careful management of your horse’s nutrition along with veterinary care, we can help stabilize your horse’s levels.
-
Just like us, our equine athletes need the right fuel to help them excel in their sport. With the right ratios and considerations, we can help our equine athletes perform better and recover faster.
-
As our horses age we need to be mindful of their diet to help them maintain their body condition, prevent or manage chronic conditions, and help them to live out their golden years in a comfortable body.

Equine Nutrition Built on Nature
Wild horses eat more than twenty plants per day over approximately sixteen hours, walking an average of ten miles to find them. Performance horses spend two to three hours per day, eating less than five plant varieties. This divide results in gastric or colonic ulcers most performance horses, as well as vices, poor hoof health, allergies, hotness, mare-ish behaviors, loss of topline, and so much more.
I can help you build a unique diet program for your horse that starts with nature and builds from there, taking into account performance, diagnosed health issues, climate, and more.
My nutrition formula
-
Forage should always make up the bulk of your horse’s diet. We’ll work together to find the right ratio of legume to grass, and determine whether your horse is best suited for fresh pasture, dry hay, or pellets. Do you need to soak? Should you get your hay tested? What about cubes or other processed hay products? We’ll answer all of these questions and more.
-
While some horses need a concentrate for calories, many just need a small amount as a vehicle to deliver their supplements. Should you use a complete feed or a single ingredient? Maybe just hay pellets? Does your horse need a big ration or just a little? Soaked mash or fed dry? The second step will be to get to the bottom of all of this.
-
Don’t be swayed by all of the pretty packages and great marketing. Your horse does need some supplements, but probably not all of the ones you think they do. We’ll evaluate your horse’s need for both necessary and functional supplements, and make sure we aren’t over supplying any specific nutrients, or missing big gaps in your horse’s health.
