Sacred Limits

Lessons in leadership, trust, and self-respect

Learn from the horses

For the humans in our lives we may be able to put hide our feelings, pretend to be calm, confident, or small. Horses see right through this. Horses know what is beneath the surface. Through their instinctual honest communication, they teach us to be kind, clear, and strong.

In this one day workshop, you will work in a small group of women alongside horses to unearth your limits, uncover your true intentions, establish clear boundaries and practice holding them with gentle resolution.

Know your limits.

Uncover your true intentions.

Establish clear boundaries.

Be gentle and resolute.

The experience

Who is this for?

Women who seek clarity about their limits, and practice holding them.

Established or aspiring horsewomen welcome. Horses are provided, no experience necessary.

What will I gain?

Work with the other women in the group while partnering with horses to establish and hold your boundaries. Practice new ways of communicating and carrying ourselves with others, which has an impact on all of our relationships.

How will we work?

Horses are powerful teachers. Ruby facilitates a variety of activities and experiences to surface your awareness of your limits and can practice to hold them.

Our horse teachers offer guidance, we can choose how to use it.

A note from Ruby

Kind, nurturing, empathetic women often share with me that they don’t want to “tell a horse what to do” or to be bossy, harsh, or mean. Instead they fall into the habit of becoming small, passive, or quiet.

As women, we may give into a societal belief that to be deferential, meek, or put our own needs last makes us a “good girl.”

But horses don’t assess our personalities. Horses see clear information, or cloudy information. They see a safe, protective partner, or they see a nervous, passive partner.

That is what makes learning from horses so profound. Horses teach us that we can have limits and advocate for them, and doing so doesn’t make us a bully or strong handed, but instead makes a clear communicator, reliable partner, and a steady horsewoman.

Horses teach us that knowing and holding our limits makes us better women.
